Short answer
This question focuses on thesis development and the use of supporting evidence to help develop a student’s ability to respond effectively to FRQ 4-the Argument Essay. There are four points available. Read the prompt and directions carefully and use substantive examples appropriately in your response.

Respond to all parts of the question. In your response, use substantive examples where appropriate.

A federal system divides power between the states and the federal government. This division of power is intended to ensure a balance is met between the needs of society on a larger scale and the interests of citizens at a local level. Take a position on the success of the framers' federalist design and whether that balance has achieved those goals, or whether an alternative system should have been considered.

Use at least one piece of evidence from one of the following foundational documents:

Brutus 1
The Federalist 10
The Tenth Amendment
In your response, you should do the following:

✓   Respond to the prompt with a defensible claim or thesis that establishes a line of reasoning.

✓   Support your claim or thesis with at least TWO pieces of specific and relevant evidence.

One piece of evidence must come from one of the foundational documents listed above.
A second piece of evidence can come from any other foundational document not used as your first piece of evidence, or it may be from your knowledge of course concepts.
