Children under 13

In accordance with COPPA, we require parental consent for students under the age of 13 (“Child User”). A Child User may use Class Companion only in one of two cases:

  • Parental consent. A parent or guardian may provide content for the Child User to use Class Companion by completing a Parental Consent Form. After Class Companion has received the signed Form, the parent may create an account for the Child User.
  • School contract. If the Child User’s school has entered into a contract with Class Companion, we allow the school to provide consent in lieu of the parent or guardian. In this case, it is the responsibility of the school to acquire parental consent. With this consent, the Child User’s teacher may invite the Child User to create an account.

If we learn that we have collected personal information through the Services from a Child User without the consent of the parent or guardian, as required by law, we will delete it.
