1 Vacationers and travelers can see red canyons and cliffs at Colorado National Monument. Once you get there, you can choose to stay in your car and drive around the park, which takes about an hour. Be sure to stop and look at the views along the way. You can also take a long or short hike. The park has 45 miles of trails with many surprises along the way. Or you can ride a bike. Bike riders can ride a 33-mile loop around the park.
2 Please have a safe trip! Follow these safety rules: • Tunnels are open to cars and bikes only. Please do not walk inside tunnels. • Watch out for rocks that may have fallen on the road. • Stay away from the edges of cliffs. • Do not feed wildlife. 1 My family went on the most amazing trip this summer. We drove to Colorado National Monument and walked on the park’s trails for most of a day. At the end of one trail, we discovered a waterfall!
2 The trails were pretty steep. My sister and I had to promise to stay close to our parents and away from cliffs. At one point, we walked around a tunnel that was for cars and bikes only.
3 During our hike, we saw a spot-collared lizard and many bighorn sheep. A few ravens flew overhead, too. But my favorite thing of all was the color of the canyons and cliffs.
