Drama Scene Writing Assignment

In this assignment, you will plan and write your own scene for a play. Your scene should include a cast of characters (at least two), a clear setting, dialogue between the characters, and stage directions that show how the characters act and move. Use the rubric provided to guide your work and make sure you include all the necessary parts. Follow the steps in each section to plan and then write your complete drama scene.

Step 1: Plan your scene by answering the questions below. This will help you organize your ideas before you start writing.

Question 1a

List the cast of characters for your scene. Include at least two characters. Give each character a name and a short description of their personality.

Describe the setting for your scene. Where and when does it take place? Be specific so your audience can picture it.

What is the main problem or situation in your scene? Write 1-2 sentences explaining what is happening between the characters.

Step 2: Write your drama scene. Use your answers from Step 1 to help you. Be sure to include:

  • The cast of characters at the top
  • A clear description of the setting
  • Dialogue between the characters
  • Stage directions in parentheses to show how the characters act, move, or use props
