Many animals live in groups because it helps them stay safe and find food. Living together can make life easier for everyone in the group.

Wolves are a great example. A group of wolves is called a pack. The wolves in a pack hunt together to catch food, such as deer or rabbits. They take turns leading and helping one another. When baby wolves are born, the whole pack helps care for them. The wolves that stay behind guard the den and protect the pups from danger.

Penguins also live in large groups called colonies. In cold places like Antarctica, penguins huddle together to stay warm. They take turns standing on the outside of the group, where it’s coldest. Then they move back inside to warm up again. This teamwork helps all the penguins survive the freezing temperatures.

Even tiny animals, like ants, live and work together. Each ant in the colony has a special job. Some ants gather food, others protect the nest, and the queen ant lays eggs. By working as a team, the ants can do much more than one ant could do alone.

When animals live in groups, they can protect each other, share food, and care for their young. Working together helps them survive in their habitats.
