Task 5 RA2 Improvements and Extensions

In this task, you will suggest ways the evidence from your investigation could be improved or extended to better address your research question (RQ) and/or claim.

You have already analysed the evidence, identified limitations, and evaluated its quality. Now, focus on proposing realistic, justified improvements and/or extensions, and explain how these changes would lead to better evidence for answering your research question or claim.

Avoid vague statements (e.g., "collect more data") and instead provide specific suggestions with clear explanations.

Important information about this activity This activity is designed to help you practise suggesting improvements and extensions to evidence and explaining how they would better address your research question (RQ) and/or claim.

The system will provide feedback on how specific your suggestions are and how clearly you explain how they improve the evidence.

However, it will not check:

  • whether your suggested improvements or extensions are the best possible options
  • whether you have identified all possible ways to improve or extend the evidence
  • whether your ideas would work perfectly in a real investigation

It is your responsibility to:

  • ensure your suggestions are scientifically reasonable
  • explain clearly how each suggestion improves the evidence
  • link each suggestion to how it better addresses your research question or claim

All evidence you refer to when suggesting improvements or extensions must be included in your printed logbook. If your teacher cannot locate the referenced evidence, your suggestions cannot be verified and may not be fully credited.

Question 1

Essay

Suggest ways the evidence could be improved or extended to better address your research question (RQ) and/or claim.

In your response, suggest specific improvements and/or extensions to the evidence. For each suggestion, explain how it would improve the evidence and help better address your research question or claim.

Avoid vague statements such as “collect more data” or “do more trials” unless you clearly explain what this means and how it improves the evidence.

Write your response in third person scientific style (do not use “I” or “we”).
