Destiny loves words and books. Her favorite place in the world is Mrs. Wade’s bookstore. Every Saturday she helps Mrs. Wade in her bookstore. She puts new books on the shelves. Then she reads Mrs. Wade stories and poems that she wrote.
Mrs. Wade has a problem and she can’t figure out the answer. She has to pay more rent, but she can’t afford it. She needs to earn more money so she can keep her store open. She needs more customers. She doesn’t want to close the store.
Destiny is sad. She tells her mother and father about Mrs. Wade’s problem. They hug her. They call the neighbors on their block.
Everyone helps. Children pass out fliers. Grown-ups contact newspapers. Everyone makes signs about the store. They have a big party to raise money.
Destiny wants to give Mrs. Wade a gift. She decides to write about Mrs. Wade’s store. Mrs. Wade loves the gift. She says Destiny’s words are very powerful. Destiny doesn’t know if the store will close. But she still enjoys reading and writing with Mrs. Wade.
