Every Kid in the Park Narrative Writing

As part of our narrative writing, we are going to learn to use descriptive writing to take a trip to a real park in California. You will be selecting and researching your destination on day one. Then, you will be writing about what you think your trip will be like. Use the information on the website below to plan an amazing day at the park of your choosing! Who knows, maybe you could actually go there this year with your park passes. Make the events and places come alive with your writing.

Introduction: Where are you going? Why did you choose this place? Who is going with you? What are you most excited about?

Question 1b

Essay

Beginning: What is your first destination or activity? (Look at the pictures on the website to get a feel for your place.) Describe it in detail.

Question 1c

Essay

Middle: Somewhere in your day, there is a problem that arises. Describe the problem. It can be a conflict between two people wanting to do different activities or even a problem with long lines or crowds.

Essay

End: How did you resolve the issue? What lesson did you learn to better plan out a trip like this next time?

Question 1e

Essay

Conclusion: Now, it’s time to go home. What was your favorite part of the day? Would you visit this place again or choose another destination?
