River of Paint Narrative Writing Assignment

In this assignment, you will read a short story called "River of Paint" and use your imagination to write your own story. You will also answer questions about two passages about adventures and looking for things. Be sure to read each section carefully and answer all the questions.

Group 1

Use your imagination to write a new story about what happened in Tim’s art class, including what he was drawing and what happened after Susan spilled the paint.

Manage your time carefully so you can:

  • plan
  • write
  • revise
  • edit

Be sure to include:

  • a plot with a beginning, middle, and end
  • character development
  • a descriptive ending

Your response should be in the form of a multi-paragraph story.

Tim’s favorite part of the day was art class. He loved drawing and painting best. Ms. Han told them they were going to draw a picture to show their favorite memory. Tim knew exactly what his picture was going to be about! He was thinking about how happy his mom was going to be when she saw the picture. Suddenly, across the table, Susan screamed! Tim looked up and saw a river of blue paint heading toward his painting.
