In this assignment, you will think about the different regions where California Native American tribes lived: the coast, the desert, the mountains, and the valleys. Each region had its own resources and ways of getting food and trading. Imagine you could choose to live in one of these regions. Answer the questions below to show what you learned!

Coastal Tribes: Chumash
- Lived near the ocean
- Economy: Fishing (fish, mussels, abalone shells), Hunting (deer, bears), Gathering (stone, plants)
- Coastal tribes created beads from shells. The shell beads were used as money throughout the area to trade.

- Lived in hot, dry deserts

- Lived in the mountains
