Creating a Persuasive Digital Advertisement: Exploring Rhetoric and Fallacy
In this assignment, you will create a digital or broadcast advertisement inspired by ideas, topics, and texts from our current unit. You must choose a clear perspective (a witch, a Puritan, or a minister of the theocracy) and intentionally incorporate at least one rhetorical device and either one logical fallacy, or the use of sensory language. After creating your advertisement, you will present it to the class and reflect on how your use of rhetoric and fallacies or sensory language influences its effectiveness and persuasiveness.
Group 1
Choose one of the following perspectives for your advertisement: a witch, a Puritan, or a minister of the theocracy. Your ad should be inspired by an idea we've explored this quarter. Be sure to use at least one rhetorical device (such as ethos, pathos, logos, repetition, rhetorical question, restatement, or parallelism) and one logical fallacy (such as single cause, bandwagon, non sequitur), or sensory language( visual, olfactory, gustatory, auditory, tactile).
Question 1a
Briefly describe the idea and the perspective you have chosen for your advertisement.
Question 1b
Identify the rhetorical device and the logical fallacy or sensory language you plan to use in your advertisement. Explain why you chose them.
Group 2
After creating and presenting your digital advertisement, reflect on your choices.
Question 2a
Discuss how the use of your chosen rhetorical device and logical fallacy affected the persuasiveness and effectiveness of your advertisement. Consider how your audience might respond to these techniques and whether they help or hinder your message.
