Rhetorical Analysis Impromptu: Song Choice Essay

Answer the essay question below for the first song you selected. You may use your printed lyrics and any notes you identified. When you finish, class companion will give you some general feedback on your work. You may use that feedback and re-submit your essay.

Group 1

Your response should include:

  • The performer/songwriter/composer and the title of the song
  • An introductory paragraph that addresses the Rhetorical Situation (SOAPSTONE)
  • Direct quotations, properly formatted and/or a description of the feature you are discussing
  • A clear analysis of the effect of each feature on the meaning of the song as a whole

Write a 1-2 page essay discussing the rhetorical choices made in the song you chose. Include the performer/songwriter/composer and the title of the song, an introductory paragraph addressing the Rhetorical Situation (SOAPSTONE), direct quotations or descriptions of features, and a clear analysis of the effect of each feature on the song's meaning.
