Haitian Revolution: "What three reasons do you believe Toussaint Louverture should be remembered for?"

Directions:  After analyzing and completing the investigative packet, which included six source documents, write a 5 paragraph essay  that answers the prompt above.   The format of the essay is as follows:

- First paragraph should include at least 4 - 5 sentences
Writer should begin with the historical context of the subject - Where is Haiti today formerly known as Saint Domingue, Who colonized it, who Toussaint Louverture was and how he was a former slave on the island and came to be the leader of the Haitian Revolution , etc. (2 pts)  The writer should then put their thesis/claim in the last sentence of the first paragraph and it should answer the  following prompt: "what 3 reasons should Toussaint Louverture be Remembered for as a player in the Haitian Revolution?" (3 pts)   = 5pts total for paragraph #1

- Second paragraph should begin with the topic sentence of what the writer believes is the most important reason Louverture should be remembered in the Haitian Revolution. (1 pt)
The paragraph should consist of at least 4 to 5 sentences and include  and explain two documents that support their topic sentence claim that help prove their claim (2 pts per document cited and explained = 4pts).    = 5pts total for paragraph #2

-Third   paragraph should begin with the topic sentence of what the writer believes is the next best reason that Louverture should be remembered as a player in the Haitian Revolution.   (1 pt).   Their topic sentence should be backed up using at least two documents that are cited and explained (2 pts per document cited and explained = 4pts).   = 5 pts total for paragraph #3

-Fourth paragraph should begin with a topic sentence of the last of the three reasons that Lourverture should be remembered as a player in the Haitian Revolution.  (1pt).   The topic sentence should be proved by citing at least two documents and explaining how those particular documents support your claim.  (2 pts per document cited and explained = 4 pts).   = 5 pts total for paragraph #4

- Fifth paragraph should summarize how Louverture was a significant eader and helped St. Domingue achieve their freedom from France in 1804 - thus the Haitian Revolution.  It should also reiterate the their thesis/claim from the first paragrah (5pts for paragraph #5)
