Your assignment: Now that you have completed research on Hammurabi’s Code, your history teacher has asked you to write an argumentative essay answering the question: Was Hammurabi’s Code just? You will need to argue whether Hammurabi’s Code was fair or unfair. In your essay, you must address all three areas of the law: family law, property law, and personal injury law. Use evidence from at least three of the five documents to support your argument. The audience for your essay will be your history teacher. Steps for Writing: Choose Your Side: Decide if you think Hammurabi’s Code was just or unjust. Develop Your Argument: Create a thesis/main idea that clearly states your position on Hammurabi’s Code.
