Does Power Corrupt? Historical and Personal Perspectives

Question 1

Essay

That is a question asked for many years and in many places throughout the world. There are many examples throughout history of power corrupting humans like Stalin, Hitler, Trotsky etc. Power can corrupt humans into people that they couldn’t imagine. The pigs wanted equal rights for all animals whenever they got power and changed into the one thing they swore to destroy. They became so self obsessed and power hungry, that all they cared about was themselves. Using this logic for an example Napoleon kicks out Snowball and only cares about the pigs on the farm. Whenever the pigs ended up becoming leaders they took everything into their own hands and ended up just becoming tyrants. They ended up just like the humans, and that was the reason they had started an animal farm, to not end up like the humans. Whenever the wrong person gets power it’s like they forgot all human decency, they have no clue what to do with it. A personal example of this is when a coach makes a joke about the player's height, but when the player makes a joke about the coach's height back the coach doesn’t like it and gets outraged and punishes him. They bend the rules and things that make no sense just because they feel it's right. Using an example of this is a coach. Some coaches don’t know what they’re doing so they end up just doing random things and punishing players just because they want to or feel like they own the world. Though power can corrupt people, it also can not. Boxer was put in power and still stayed loyal and worked even harder for his people. Power can corrupt but not if you put the right person in the right position. Power can overwhelm people and make people do crazy things. It is crazy the limits people will go to just to get their way when they are in power. Power corrupts people so bad they don’t know what they’re doing. Power corrupts through manipulating minds and pulling them off of what their main goal is. Many of the world's problems would be solved if we put limits on people's power. Put the right people in the right position and have them have limits to their power.
