Argumentative Essay on Survival

Question 1

Essay

Write a four paragraph argumentative essay by integrating your quotes, synthesizing at least three sources, and using at least three explanatory/elaborative techniques. Choose to answer one of the following questions: What does it take to survive? Should people in life-or-death situations be held accountable for their actions? How do our surroundings change what we need and what we want in order to survive? Is any one type (physical, mental, etc.) of struggle 'harder' than the other? In times of adversity, what types of things help us survive? Sometimes, is it okay to just barely 'get by'? What is a survivor? Is there a lasting effect, both positive and negative, of being a survivor? In overcoming a problem, does one need more physical strength or more mental strength? Use evidence from what we have read in class so far this semester: 'The Seventh Man', 'Life of Pi', 'The Shortest Straw', 'The Most Dangerous Game', 'Tornado Prom', and 'The Voyage of the James Caird'.
