Fahrenheit 451 Final Essay Prompt 1
Answer the following question:
Question 1
Throughout the year, we have been looking at how stories help us both understand ourselves and others, and what we can do with what we learn. For this final assessment, you will be analyzing and reflecting on this question as it relates to Fahrenheit 451.
This will be a FIVE paragraph essay. You will write an introduction with a claim, three body paragraphs that analyze and support your claim and one reflective conclusion.
For the analysis, answer the following question:
- What did Fahrenheit 451 teach you about yourself and/or the world around you? You will turn this into a THEME STATEMENT.
You will then find THREE different moments from the novel that taught you this lesson (evidence). Evidence must come from different parts of the book. For each piece of evidence, you will also need to include TWO direct quotes to support and show your theme’s development (that means six quotes total). Quotes must be cited correctly (Author’s last name page number) (Bradbury 28). These will be your THREE body paragraphs.
Your final paragraph will be a reflective, connective paragraph. Now that you have this new learning/understanding of the world or yourself through this text, what can you do with this knowledge? This is where you are going to focus on connecting your theme to yourself and your world. Bring it out beyond the text.
You will also need to include a Works Cited entry for the book.
