Focusing Question Task 2 (Lesson 16)

Read Dear Jordan and Estranged.  Based on the details in these poems and your understanding of Josh and his story through multiple readings of a variety of poetic types, write a response to the following: 

Explain the form (poetic type) of each poem, and then compare and contrast how they reveal deeper meaning in The Crossover. 

Write 3 well-organized informative paragraphs that use specific evidence from the text to support your response. 

Remember to –    
•	Include a paragraph that analyzes the first poem, explaining how the poetic type contributes to our understanding of Josh’s sense of himself and/or his world.
•	Include a paragraph that analyzes the second poem, explaining how the poetic type contributes to our understanding of Josh’s sense of himself and/or his world.
•	A final paragraph that compares and contrasts how the two poems contribute to the overall meaning of the novel. (you can only get above a 90 if this paragraph is done)
