Unit 2: Music Tempo and Cognitive Performance Study
We hypothesize that different music tempos will have varying effects on brain activity and cognitive performance, with faster tempos potentially leading to increased alertness and improved cognitive performance.
We will recruit a sample of participants by providing credit for an assignment to all of High Point’s biology students who have no known hearing impairments or neurological conditions. Student participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: high-tempo music, low-tempo music, and no music group.
They will complete a memory screener, an attention test, and three problem-solving exercises while attached to an EEG machine.
