Read the prompt and answer the following questions. It's not enough to answer a question by merely listing facts. You should present a cogent argument based on your critical analysis of the questions posed using appropriate psychological terminology.
Johnny Depp spoke about his personal battles with depression and financial struggles during his public defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Johnny claims that a host of issues in his personal and professional life left him feeling “low.” His parents divorced when he was young, and he walked in on his mother overdosing on pills shortly after. He has also been open about the beatings he received from his mother as a child and from Heard during their marriage. In addition to his defamation trial against Heard, Depp found himself in a legal battle with his former managers, revealing that almost all of his fortune was gone. Over the years, Johnny tried coping by abusing drugs and alcohol. Depp denied all claims of domestic violence and won the defamation case. In an interview with Rolling Stone he said, “I kept trying to figure out what I’ve done to deserve this. I’d tried being kind to everyone. The truth is most important to me. And all this still happened.”
