AP Success - AP Psychology: The Long Journey to the Pediatrician (Units 4, 5)

Explain how each of the following concepts relates to this scenario.
Robert needs to visit his pediatrician for his annual checkup. Robert is afraid to go to see his doctor because he has had blood drawn there before. Robert's mother is ambivalent about bringing Robert to see the doctor, because she knows he does not like it, but she brings him anyway. In order to get Robert to go see the doctor, Robert’s mother first asks Robert if he wants to go for a ride on the subway. After he says yes, she asks him if he wants to go to the ice cream shop that is near the doctor’s office. Finally, she asks Robert if he would behave inside the doctor's office. Robert reluctantly agrees. Robert acts like a good boy in the doctor's office and gets a lollipop as a reward when the exam is finished.
