Research Summary Using the RACCER Paragraph Format
For this assignment, you will independently research a topic of your choice and write a summary in the form of one or two paragraphs using the RACCER paragraph structure. Your summary must demonstrate that you have reached at least the 'Developing' level in each area of the research rubric. Review the attached rubric and RACCER structure to guide your work. Your paragraphs should clearly show your understanding of your topic, use evidence from at least 3 to 5 diverse sources, and be logically organized. Make sure to cite your sources in APA format and include all elements of the RACCER format in your writing.

Follow these steps to complete your assignment:
- Choose a topic that interests you and conduct research using at least 3 to 5 diverse, high-quality sources. Make sure at least 60% of your sources are produced by experts and are relevant to your topic. Avoid relying solely on general-purpose websites.
- Take notes in your own words, organize your information logically, and ensure your notes are mostly relevant to your topic.
- Write a summary of your research in one or two paragraphs using the RACCER paragraph structure. Be sure to include all elements: Restate the question, Answer the question, Claim, Context, Cite evidence, Explain evidence, and Restate claim.
- Cite your sources in APA format with at least 70% accuracy.
- Review your work using the rubric to ensure you have reached the 'Developing' level in every criteria area before submitting.

Research and Sources (Developing): At least 3 to 5 diverse sources used (articles, books, videos, interviews, websites, art, images, live expert, primary sources) are high quality; at least 60% of sources are produced by experts and relevant to the topic. Many sources are general-purpose websites.
Note Taking / Citation (Developing): Notes are in student’s own words (at least 70% of the time), logically organized, and mostly relevant to project. All sources cited in APA format with 70% accuracy.
Presentation (Developing): Some prompting by advisor(s) needed to get information into RACCER format. Paragraph is developing body organization, but not fully developed.
Depth of Knowledge (Developing): Project demonstrates a basic understanding of the topic. Project includes some relevant details, but may have minor errors or misunderstandings. Some evidence of synthesis, but not fully developed.
Time and Management / Collaboration (Developing): Finished project after due date and/or required some prompting, but is complete. Student shared evenly, but needed reminders to stay on task and resolve conflicts.
