Personal Narrative Introduction Writing Assignment

In this assignment, you will write a personal narrative about a memorable moment in your life. Your narrative will be written in first person point of view (using "I," "me," and "my") and will be completed in three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. Follow the directions for each part carefully. Remember to check your spelling, punctuation, grammar, and organization in every section.

Group 1

Part 1: Introduction Write the introduction to your personal narrative. Make sure your introduction:

  • Includes a hook that captures the reader’s attention
  • Tells when and where your memorable moment took place
  • Describes how you were feeling before the memorable moment

Write the introduction to your personal narrative as described above. Be sure to use first person point of view and include all required elements.

Group 2

Part 2: Body Write the body of your personal narrative. In this section:

  • Describe your memorable moment in chronological order
  • Use at least two transition words or phrases (for example: "first," "then," "suddenly," "after that")
  • Include sensory details (what you saw, heard, smelled, tasted, or felt) to help bring the experience to life
  • Use at least one example of figurative language (such as a simile, metaphor, or personification)
  • Include dialogue (something someone said, using quotation marks)

Write the body of your personal narrative as described above. Be sure to use first person point of view and include all required elements.

Group 3

Part 3: Conclusion Write the conclusion to your personal narrative. In your conclusion:

  • Tell how you felt after your memorable moment
  • Explain what you learned from the experience or how the experience changed you
