The Power of Language: Research Synthesis Paper
Question 1
Define, in both broad and precise measure, the power of language. Consider in your discussions the themes that have permeated our in-class conversations about language: the constant evolution of language, the ‘abuse’ of language, language and power (many different power structures to explore), language and gender, profanity and etiquette, language and identity, etc. All papers must contain a strong thesis that introduces the focus your group is taking in responding to the prompt. No one paper will cover everything to be said about the power of language; instead, you will use your research to guide you in following a particular avenue through which to explore the topic. Be unique in your approach – what can you say that will not be said by every other group? You will need a minimum of four credible sources, and four full pages minimum (not including the title page and annotated bibliography. Your annotated bibliography should contain MLA Works Cited information, as well as a complete precis for each source.
