Lost in the Woods
(1) Alex and his friends loved exploring the forest near their hometown. (2) One Saturday, they decided to take a different trail they hadn't tried before. (3) The trees were so thick, it felt like they were stepping into another world. (4) As they walked deeper into the woods, the sky began to get dark. (5) Suddenly, they realized they couldn't find their way back.
(6) "I think we should go left," said Mark, pointing to a narrow path covered in leaves. (7) "No, I’m sure we came from the other direction," argued Lisa. (8) Alex stood quietly, trying to remember the way they came. (9) At that moment, he noticed a small creek running nearby. (10) He remembered their teacher saying that water usually flows toward roads or towns.
(11) "Let's follow the creek," Alex suggested. (12) The group agreed, and they began walking along the water's edge. (13) The forest was silent except for the sound of the creek flowing over rocks. (14) After what seemed like hours, they saw something shining in the distance. (15) It was the sunlight reflecting off a metal fence. (16) With a burst of energy, they ran toward it and discovered it was the boundary of a park near their town.
(17) Relieved, they climbed over the fence and found themselves on a familiar trail. (18) "We made it!" shouted Mark. (19) Lisa smiled, saying, "We should stick to the marked trails next time." (20) They all laughed, feeling proud of their little adventure.
(21) As they headed home, they talked about how they would tell their friends about their day. (22) Alex felt good because he was calm. (23) Even though they were scared at first, they worked together to find a solution. (24) He learned that keeping a cool head in a tough situation makes a big difference. (25) Just then, he heard a rustling in the bushes nearby.
(26) "Did you hear that?" Alex asked nervously. (27) The others stopped and listened. (28) Out of the bushes, a small deer jumped onto the trail and ran away quick. (29) Everyone laughed again, this time from relief. (30) They realized the forest wasn't so scary after all when they were together.
